Family for Life

Let’s go to a show
and have tons of fun.
Let all your thoughts go
and let your heart run
to the beats of the music,
the words of the songs,
throw your arms around
and just let it all out.
[Let it all out]

Jump onto stage, we’re no better than anyone else
we’ll take you in, no matter what
This is hardcore, a family for life.
We’ll shout these words together
Our family for life
[Our family for life]

The anger, the hurt
come scream every word that needs to be heard.
Two-step, chicken head, do what you like,
dance it all off tonight, because
there will be blood on the dance floor
[Blood on the dance floor]
There will be blood on the dance floor
[Blood on the dance floor]
Just none of that scene shit.

Don’t get me wrong, we’re no better than anyone else
we’ll take you in, no matter what
This is hardcore, a family for life.
We’ll shout these words together
Our family for life
[Our family for life]

Deez Nuts got it right,
don’t care what you wear,
don’t think badly of your drink,
we’re in this for more than the music
[more than the music]
This is more than just music
[More than just music]

The screams, the shoving,
the blood, sweat and tears
they’re a clean cure for all of your fears

Don’t get me wrong, we’re no better than anyone else
we’ll take you in, no matter what
This is hardcore, a family for life.
We’ll shout these words together,
One last time
Our family for life
[Our family for life]
Our family for life
[Our family for life]
We love our family for life

People that are fifteen, sixteen, seventeen years old, music is their life. And the idea that they can’t go see a band because they’re not old enough just doesn’t make any sense at all. To me, playing a show where people under the age of eighteen or under the age of twenty one are not allowed in is the same thing as not allowing women in, or Asians. It’s a significant part of the population that’s been ruled out for what reason? I’ve never played a show, knowingly at least, that wasn’t all ages. Music is for all people, that’s clear. And I don’t know why other people would ever accept conditions that were set by an industry as insidious as the alcohol industry. Why is music treated as a sideline to a party? To just getting fucked up, I just don’t understand it.Ian Mackaye

The Attitude:

Regarding the events of the last couple of days and the general development we see in hardcore over the last years, we as a band wanted to make clear, that we don’t tolerate or moreover support such antisocial and dull ‘entertainment’ bragging with the beating, killing and sexually destroying of men and women. Those who proclaim that this was all fun couldn’t be more wrong and deserve our pity and rejection. This may include that we reserve our right to resign from lineups in case such ‘artists’ remain on the billing. We refer to the incidents in the run-up to the show in Kassel in june, where rapper Crystal F was planned to make an appearance on stage. We state out that we hold no personal resentment against him in any way, but refuse to share stage because of the intellectually undemanding nature of his music and the messages involved.

We won’t sit and watch as our beloved hardcore music and the scene around gets carried into directions that involve turning our heads off and massively gloryfies gangster attitudes and senseless coarse remarks. In the past we might have not been associated with such critical mannerisms, but be assured that this has been smoldering in us for a long time now and we won’t keep quiet and defend what we see is under attack.

We hope that there are enough people out there, who see what is going on and deny to offer platforms to such crap.

Regards,

Reborn to Conquer
